She was born in Cleveland, Ohio and raised in Caracas, Venezuela where she achieved her Dental Degree at the Central University of Venezuela in 2000. Dr. Cohen, next completed a four-year Internship at the Santa Rosa Oral and Maxilofacial Surgery Center in Caracas. She then completed her postdoctoral Program in Oral Surgery with Honors at the Central University of Venezuela.

Dr. Cohen worked in private practice at the Santa Rosa Oral and Maxilofacial Surgery Center in Caracas before moving to South Florida, where she completed 3 years of advanced training in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry. She received her certificate in Periodontics from Nova Southeastern University School of Dental Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Dr. Cohen has authored and coauthored numerous articles and book chapters on topics including Alveolar Reconstruction and Distraction Osteogenesis.

Dr. Cohen is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, a member of the Academy of Osseointegration (AO), and a member of the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP). Dr. Cohen is an Adjunct Clinical Profesor in the Periodontology Department at Nova Southeastern University Her special areas of interest and treatment include minimally invasive soft tissue grafting techniques for teeth and implants, immediate implant placement, bone tissue regeneration, periodontal-orthodontic accelerating procedures and periodontal plastic surgery
